Relaxation Exercises And Stress Relief

"Without stress, there would be no life,"  says Paul J. Rosch, M.D, president of The American Institute of Stress.

Although some stress in our lives can have a positive effect (the growth you can achieve from moving out of your comfort zone, or the stress of a deadline leading us to doing some good work), negative stress can have an adverse effect on both our physical and mental health.

Many people are stressed. There are many adults that live with this stress each day. They are highly strung, fatigued and lacking any energy, and they seem to catch illnesses such as colds and viruses rather easily.

When you live under enormous amounts of stress, you will find the quality of your life is not what it should be. Although it is impossible to avoid the circumstances in life that contribute to stress, you can learn new approaches and techniques to offset their effects.

Many people are turning to relaxation exercises to help them mellow out, reduce their stress levels and to generally help them feel better and live a healthier life.

Relaxation exercises come in two forms. The first is regular exercise. If you take time out of your day to do exercise, you are going to be far less stressed. If you visit the gym at least three or four times a week, this exercise is not only good for your body, it is good for your mental health as well. You don’t even have to go to the gym either. You can jog around your local park, or go for long leisurely walks with your family. As long as you get moving at least a few times a week, you are going to reap the benefits.

You can also do relaxation exercises before you go to bed. These are not intense workouts, but rather sessions of easy stretching. Stress can make your muscles tight. This makes you feel stressed even more, and you will have a hard time getting a good nights sleep. Relaxation exercises performed near bedtime, will help improve blood flow and stretch out your tight muscles, making you feel looser, less stressed, relaxed and ready for bed.

If you don’t know how to go about stretching properly, you can find DVDs that teach relaxation exercises online. The exercises themselves are not difficult, and are suitable for people at all levels of fitness.

Relaxation exercises can be performed at anytime. When you are away from home, or even for a few moments at work when things get tense. If there is a lot of tension in your household, you may even want to teach the exercises to your whole family everyone can feel the benefits of relaxation.

You may not realize it, but this might bring a sense of peace to your family that you have never known before.

Fitness Walking

Fitness walking is an attractive exercise choice because it’s low-impact and virtually injury-free, and serves as a nice warm up for running or jogging.  Fitness walking is also easy to incorporate into any schedule, since if you walk fifteen minutes to work every morning and fifteen minutes back every evening you’ve already taken care of your exercise for the day, which will help you lose weight and stay healthy.
